This is the shocking moment Switzerland came close to capsizing as practice racing got underway on San Francisco Bay.
The incident occurred in the first practice race of the day as crews fought to keep control of their F50s in winds of 35 km/h - 40 km/h.
Driver Nathan Outteridge and his crew just about managed to regain control before the Swiss F50 flipped over.
The Swiss weren’t the only team to struggle amidst the feisty conditions, with Erik Heil’s Germany almost flying out of the water in the same race. The German F50 was seen bucking out of the water and sliding across the water.
The F50 fleet competed across three practice races ahead of official racing kicking off on Saturday, July 13. Three fleet races will take place on Saturday, followed by two more on Sunday. Then, the top three ranked teams will proceed into the winner-takes-all, $2 million Grand Final to decide the ultimate winner of Season 4.
