The Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team won the DP World Spain Sail Grand Prix Andalucía | Cádiz with a late and ultimately crucial move in the winner-takes-all Final. After serving a pre-start penalty, Dylan Fletcher’s crew reeled in the Black Foils SailGP Team and took the inside line at the final turning mark to cross first. It capped a weekend of varied winners and tight margins, and it put the British crew in a commanding position heading into the season’s last stop.

Saturday in Cádiz — Fast Starts and Fine Margins

Day 1 ran four fleet races in a steady breeze across Cádiz. Emirates GBR set the tone early with clean time-to-foil, disciplined angles through Gate 1, and tidy mark roundings. The ROCKWOOL Racing SailGP Team matched the day’s top level, banking two wins and staying error-light across legs. The Germany SailGP Team Presented by Deutsche Bank carried their Geneva form into Spain with another run of consistent scoring.

Elsewhere, the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team never found a settled rhythm. The Los Gallos SailGP Team showed straight-line pace but left points on the table through traffic and penalties. The Black Foils stayed in range without exposing themselves to big risks.

By the end of the day, Emirates GBR held the narrow advantage on 49 points, followed by Germany by Deutsche Bank (44), the Black Foils (42), and ROCKWOOL Racing (41). Five crews remained within reach of the Final after four races, keeping live prices tight across the board.

Sunday — Three Races and a Spanish Showdown

Sunday’s block reordered the pack again. Los Gallos took Race 5 with a clean launch and measured positioning through the middle of the course. The France SailGP Team (Les Bleus) controlled Race 6 with sharp starts and low-risk laylines. The Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team produced the upset of the weekend in Race 7, overhauling the NorthStar SailGP Team late on the final downwind to secure only their second fleet-race win.

The Final featured Emirates GBR, Germany by Deutsche Bank, and the Black Foils. A pre-start penalty put the British crew on the back foot, but they reduced the gap leg by leg and forced a decision at the last turning mark. Fletcher’s call to dive inside Peter Burling and the Black Foils created the faster exit to the finish. Emirates GBR took the tape; the Black Foils followed; Germany by Deutsche Bank completed the podium. ROCKWOOL Racing, so strong on Saturday, missed the Final after a last-place Race 7 result.

Betting View — Pricing Before and After the Weekend

Pre-event pricing framed a three-way battle. The BONDS Flying Roos and the Black Foils were around 4.0, with Emirates GBR slightly longer near 4.75; Los Gallos traded at a boosted 8.0 (Bet365). Saturday trimmed those gaps. Emirates GBR tightened with each top-four result; ROCKWOOL Racing shortened after two wins; the BONDS Flying Roos drifted on lower-half finishes. The Black Foils held steady, reflecting a season-long base level rather than a single-day spike.

Sunday confirmed the direction of travel. Los Gallos’ Race 5 win moved side markets without sustaining an outright reprice. Les Bleus’ Race 6 control reinforced their ceiling but didn’t reorder the top tier. Mubadala Brazil’s Race 7 victory created a brief lift on props ahead of Final selection.

By the Final, operators had Emirates GBR and the Black Foils close to parity. The British win resolved that debate. Post-event, books tightened behind Emirates GBR and eased the BONDS Flying Roos and the Black Foils slightly relative to Saturday morning. Germany by Deutsche Bank drew fresh attention on “next event podium” and “top-four finish” angles based on two consecutive events at the sharp end and low penalty exposure in Cádiz.

Reading the Racing Team by Team

Emirates GBR looked composed everywhere it mattered: reliable launches, high time-on-foils, clean exits at Gate 1, and the confidence to make the winning call under pressure. The Black Foils brought their usual baseline speed and start efficiency, but the final-mark approach favored the inside line and the British crew executed it for the first time.

Germany by Deutsche Bank put together another high-quality weekend with strong acceleration phases, crisp handling in traffic, and minimal errors across legs. They appear to have found a level and are proving they can hold it.

ROCKWOOL Racing peaked on Saturday with two wins; the late drop in Race 7 was decisive. The BONDS Flying Roos had an uncharacteristic off-week, with a higher error count around layline discipline than their norm. Les Bleus showed top-end speed with their Race 6 win; variance across legs continues to limit their ceiling. Los Gallos delivered the home-race high in Race 5 but couldn’t string together a full Sunday. Mubadala Brazil’s close on Race 7 was opportunistic and assured; NorthStar were edged late after holding position for most of the leg.

On to Abu Dhabi

Spain was a weekend of nerves and the kind of judgment under pressure that defines SailGP. Emirates GBR turned a penalty into a platform and sealed it with the move at the last mark. Now attention turns to the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Final presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council with the final fleet racing of the season first, before one last race decides the Rolex SailGP 2025 Season Champion.
