Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix 2026: Los Gallos’ record of making the Final can’t be ignored

One of the great things about betting on the Rolex SailGP Championship is that there isn’t just one betting market available; there are several, so punters aren’t limited to a single option.

And as we discussed yesterday, while the event winner market probably sees the most business, picking the winner of it is easier said than done.

Though only four teams have been victorious as event winners in SailGP so far this season, figuring out which one will strike next has been an uphill task. The last four events produced three different winners, with only Los Gallos SailGP Team managing to win twice, doing so first at Halifax and then in Portsmouth.

Those back-to-back wins for the Spanish were followed by a fifth triumph of the season for the Bonds Flying Roos in Sassnitz, and then there was that excellent display from Taylor Canfield last time out in Valencia, so though there’s no guarantee we’ll have a fifth different event winner before the season is up, the four teams who have tasted glory and got to spray the champagne on Sunday afternoon always seem to be there or thereabouts.

Why the ‘To make the Final’ market can throw up some good bets

So today we’ll be looking at potential value bets in the ‘To make the final’ market.

But before we do that, we need to take a step back and remember that the goalposts have shifted over the last few events.

For the first six events of the season, the Sunday Final was based on the three teams that scored the most points across the fleet races on Saturday and Sunday, so only three winners were possible when this market was settled.

But as we know, it’s been a different story ever since the Canada Sail Grand Prix in late June, with group racing rather than rleet racing, and four teams now contesting the Final.

So the obvious takeaway is that it’s now a four-winner market rather than three, but, as is the nature of betting, that will also mean the odds on all the teams will be shorter than before, as there are four places up for grabs rather than the previous three.

Los Gallos and Artemis this week’s selections

A good starting point in this market is Los Gallos, chalked up at 2.33.

Since the four-boat final format was introduced in Halifax, they made the Final in three out of four events, actually going on to the first two, before a third-place finish in Sassnitz. And they can consider themselves pretty unfortunate to have missed out on four Finals in four, when their 14 points matched the ROCKWOOL Racing SailGP Team, who were fortunate to progress to the Final at the Spanish team’s expense.

But at a considerably bigger price of 3.85, the Artemis SailGP Team aren’t ones to dismiss on this market, either.

Since we had a four-boat Final, they made it into the first two of these events and were unfortunate to miss a third in a row in Germany, when they were pipped by a single point in Group B by the Bonds Flying Roos

For those looking for an odds-on shot with the stats on their side, the Bonds Flying Roos to outperform the Black Foils SailGP Team is an easy choice to make on the Head-to-Head market.

The Australians have beaten the Kiwis in five of the six events they’ve both taken part in this season, so 1.64 isn’t a bad price at all on Slingsby and co.
