SailGP 2025 Season Final Race Odds Day 1 of Championship

06/10/2026
by Emma Harrison

A reminder, as per yesterday’s analysis of the 2025 Rolex SailGP Championship outright winner odds, that the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team are the 2.5 favorites to be crowned the season champions, with the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team and the Black Foils SailGP Team available at the same odds at 2.9, while the Los Gallos SailGP Team are out at 71.4.

But Sunday’s Grand Final race and the overall season win that comes with emerging triumphant in it are by no means the only prizes at stake this weekend, because before we move on to the Grand Final, there’s the small matter of the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Grand Final, presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, to play for.

But then again, it’s the usual suspects dominating the betting in that one, too.

The Bookies Say The BONDS Flying Roos Are the Team to Beat for The Event Win

The BONDS Flying Roos still have a little bit of work to do to qualify for Sunday’s Grand Final and are currently ‘just’ third in the overall standings, but the bookies have installed them as 5.0 favorites to win the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix, nonetheless.

By way of explanation, the price on the Aussies winning the event is much bigger at 5.0 than the 2.9 available on them winning the overall Championship for a very simple reason.

Whereas only the four teams mentioned above can qualify for the Grand Final and therefore be in a position to win it, any one of the 12 teams making up the 2025 Rolex SailGP Championship can win the Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix event that precedes it.

And when we say, anyone can win it, we mean it. There have, after all, been seven different winners across the 11 events contested so far, with only Emirates GBR, the Black Foils and Los Gallos being repeat winners.

There have also been five different winners across the last six events, with only Emirates GBR winning twice over that period.

Emirates GBR, the favorites for the Championship and the in-form team, are the third-favorites to win the event at 6.06, with the Black Foils just a tad shorter than them at 5.56.

Then it’s Los Gallos at 6.9, Canada’s NorthStar at 8.0, and the France SailGP Team at 9.09. The rest of the fleet are available at double-figure odds, with the Switzerland SailGP Team the shortest of them at 12.5 and the United States SailGP Team the biggest outsiders of the lot at 66.67.

What Happened Last Year in Abu Dhabi?

Those big odds on the US SailGP Team to win the event may come back to bite the bookies on the backside, if last year’s results in Abu Dhabi are anything to go by.

After the five fleet races, they qualified for the Final in first place on 34 points, having shown remarkable consistency with three podium finishes across those first five races.

They were joined in the final by Los Gallos and the Black Foils, with Peter Burling guiding the latter to glory in the event showdown, Los Gallos finishing second and the Americans third, at an event characterized by light wind and the absence of any foiling altogether by all members of the fleet.

Aussies Also Favored to Draw First Blood in Races 1 And 2

The bookies are also offering odds on who will win Races 1 and 2 on Saturday, and they paint a familiar picture compared to the overall one: the Aussies  are the team to beat in the first two races, as well.

They’re 5.26 favorites for both Races 1 and 2, with the Black Foils just a little bigger at 5.56, followed by Emirates GBR at 6,45, Los Gallos at 7.41, and Northstar at 8.7.

For the record, last year’s Race 1 here in Abu Dhabi was won by the Black Foils, with Tom Slingsby’s Aussies in second place and NorthStar completing the podium in third.

Head-To-Head Markets Worth a Look

If you’d rather just focus on a two-horse race than a 12-horse one, then the head-to-head markets may interest you, instead.

In head-to-head markets, you’re just betting on who will finish best across the event as a whole between two named runners, and not worrying about what everyone else is doing.

The BONDS Flying Roos v Black Foils head-to-head market sees the Aussies being the 1.75 favorites to the Kiwis’ 1.97, while Emirates GBR are strong favorites at 1.52 to get the better of their French counterparts, who are 2.38.

There’s no such thing as ‘buying money’ when it comes to any sort of betting, including on the Rolex SailGP Championship, but backing the Germany SailGP Team Presented by Deutsche Bank to finish higher than the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team may be many people’s idea of the closest thing to that.

They’re only slightly above them in the overall standings, with Germany Deutsche Bank in ninth and Red Bull Italy in tenth, but the Germans have gotten the better of the Italians in each of the last four events, including, of course, the Geneva event, which Germany by Deutsche Bank actually won.

So plenty to look forward to as the countdown to Saturday’s action gets underway.
