So far this week, we’ve given you updates on the Rolex SailGP Championship standings and the latest odds on who will win the 2025 season.
And we’ve also gone through the DP World Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía – Cádiz Event Winner odds.
A reminder that the BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team and the Black Foils SailGP Team are joint 4.0 favorites to win this weekend’s event, with Emirates GBR hot on their heels at a boosted price of 4.75, followed by Diego Botin’s Los Gallos SailGP Team at 8.0, also at boosted odds. Prices with Bet365.
But right now, we’re about to talk you through the latest betting on Race 1 and making Sunday’s final, plus a quick look at one of the weekend’s more intriguing head-to-head markets.
Flying Roos Favorites To Get Off To a Flyer
Despite being the same price as New Zealand to win the whole event, the BONDS Flying Roos are just a bit shorter than their Australasian rivals at a boosted 4.75 with Bet365 to win Race 1, with the Kiwis 5.0, the same as the British team.
But it’s worth being aware of what happened in last year’s opening race here in the south of Spain: Los Gallos won it. And it wasn’t the usual suspects joining them on the podium, either. The United States SailGP Team, which went on to win the event as a whole, finished second in Fleet Race 1, with the ROCKWOOL Racing SailGP Team completing the top three.
This time round Los Gallos are 6.5 to win the first of Saturday’s races, while the France SailGP Team, who won Race 2 here in Spain last year, are 8.5 chances.
Who Are SailGP’s Fast Starters?
An interesting angle to consider is who has been the fast starters this year in the 2025 Rolex SailGP Championship, and by that, we mean which teams have taken the opening race of an event more often this season.
It’s a two-way tie between the Black Foils and Emirates GBR, who have each won it twice. The USA, the Swiss, the French, Spanish, the Germans and the Aussies all have won Race 1 on one occasion during the season.
Who Will Make Sunday’s Final?
The best way for the five teams still in contention to make the Grand Final at the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix 2025 Season Grand Final presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, is to first make sure that they make the final this weekend.
No surprises that the Aussies, GBR and New Zealand are the shortest-priced teams at 1.89, 1.92 and 1.89 respectively to make that Sunday final, followed by the French at 2.9, the Spanish at 3.08, and the Canadians at 3.85. Despite winning this event last year, the USA are way out at 18.18 to contest Sunday afternoon’s final showdown, with only the Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team available at bigger odds than them: 40.0.
Unsurprisingly, results from this season back up the idea that the BONDS Flying Roos and the Black Foils should be joint-favorites to win the event and the favorites to make the final. They’re the only two teams to have made five finals this season, with Emirates GBR and Los Gallos next-best, with four appearances in finals each.
Are the Under-The-Radar NorthStar SailGP Team Being…Underrated?
But the NorthStar SailGP Team has made three of their own. So that 3.85 on making it four in Spain is a decent price.
Finally, one of the more competitive betting heats this weekend could be the battle to see who gets more points across the weekend between that same Canadian team, and the Spanish. The latter are fancied at 1.68 to pick up the most points in it, with NorthStar 2.06, and that’s certainly one to keep an eye on.
