SailGP St.-Tropez Race Odds to Win Event ROCKWOOL France Sail Grand Prix, GBR and Black Foils Favorites

There were plenty of takeaways from Friday’s racing at the ROCKWOOL France Sail Grand Prix, and the Sportsbooks have wasted no time in taking it all in and updating their odds for Saturday’s action to reflect that.

The day belonged to Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team, who with a win and a runner-up spot, ended Friday on 31 points, making them the event’s current leaders.

Emirates GBR the SailGP Team To Beat in Fleet Race 5

The Sportsbooks have seen enough to make the British the 4.0 favorites to win the first of tomorrow’s two races, when Fleet Race 5 gets underway.

But there’s certainly not much in it. The BONDS Flying Roos and the Black Foils SailGP Team also won a race each on the day and are trading at 4.26 and 4.17, respectively, for tomorrow’s opening race.

It wasn’t the best of days for France SailGP Team, who had promised so much after last month’s success at the Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz and were on waters they know only too well on the French Riviera.

But a fourth-place finish in Fleet Race 3, surprisingly won by Red Bull Italy SailGP Team, was their best effort on the day, though they were somewhat consistent overall and ended the day in sixth-place on 19pts.

But the Sportsbooks are still showing them some respect and aren’t completely dismissing their chances at glory in tomorrow’s first race, making them fourth-favorites at 8.7.

As for the Italians, it was their first-ever win in a Rolex SailGP Championship event but they’re not expected to follow that up with a second in Saturday’s opening race, seeing as they’re priced up at big odds of 50.0.

Friday’s Top 3 Expected To Make Saturday’s Final

Sportsbooks rarely make too many mistakes when it comes to setting their odds and that’s certainly the case with their ‘To make the final’ prices.

Event leaders Emirates GBR are 1.75 favorites to contest Saturday’s showdown with the Black Foils just a bit bigger at 1.79. The BONDS Flying Roos SailGP Team didn’t have the greatest of days, but still won Race 1. The odds-compilers aren’t taking too many liberties with them and have them at 3.64 to somehow engineer a Top 3 finish and make Saturday’s final.

But that’s a bigger price than the 3.17 on Los Gallos SailGP Team. The saying goes that possession is 9/10 of the law and given it’s the Spanish who are currently in possession of third spot here in Saint-Tropez, the Sportsbooks are making them third-favorites to contest the final at 3.17

You can obviously only win the final – and the ROCKWOOL France Sail Grand Prix as a whole – if you’re in it, so it makes sense that the two teams at the top of the Saint-Tropez standings are the ones favored to do so.

That’s why the Black Foils are 4.76 to win Saturday’s final, with the British 4.84 and Los Gallos available at 8.0.

Can the Ausises Bite Back on Saturday?

As pointed out in our Friday recap, the Aussies have it all to do to make the final, let alone win it, so that’s why they’re 9.52 to win tomorrow’s final. Keen followers of the Rolex SailGP Championship who also like to monitor the betting odds will know that going into the final day, that’s not the sort of price we’re accustomed to seeing them at.

But whether they make the final or not, the Sportsbooks think Saturday’s opening race could be a chance for them to bite back and remind everyone just why they’re leading the Championship.

Despite the Kiwis having much better proceedings on Friday, it’s 1.85 on both the latter and the Aussies on the head-to-head market, as to who will perform better in tomorrow’s Fleet Race 5. We have it all to look forward to.
