A unique opportunity that connects ambitious young sailors with the pinnacle of the sport. SailGP's Inspire Racing offers opportunities to get behind the scenes, meet the world’s best athletes and then take part in a racing program on the F50 race course, directly in front of massive crowds.
Who can participate? Young, energetic people with some sailing experience are invited to apply. Those selected will sail beside some of the best in the world.
Details on how to apply for Inspire Racing for Season 2 (2021) will be available by the end of 2020.
The program comprises two opportunities:
Inspire Racing x WASZP
Imagine flying at high speeds above the water just like the SailGP athletes - that’s what Inspire Racing offers, thanks to foiling technology. It’s cool, fast and thrilling - an entirely different, next-level experience. Closer to surfing or gliding in terms of image and lifestyle - but with technical skill and sheer enjoyment at its core.
Sixteen youth athletes (U20) are selected on the following criteria: sailing ability; willingness to learn new skills; positive attitude towards the sport and this opportunity; ambition; demonstrating the potential to become a SailGP athlete in the future.
Inspire Racing x RS Cat14
Sailing on the RS Cat14 provides a unique insight into what it’s like to be onboard an F50 catamaran. The sailors also race on a mini version of the SailGP racecourse - a great first step for up and coming junior sailors.
Sixteen U15 sailors with a 50/50 gender participation rate are selected on behalf of their clubs. Clubs are typically nominated in partnership with the local governing body.
“It was one of the best experiences of my life, from sailing with Billy Besson through to trapezing from the catamaran in my home town in front of a huge crowd, with many of my friends and family watching. It made all the sailors feel like superstars.” - Illeana Burns, Gurnard Sailing Club
