SailGP fans have predicted the top three teams they think will make the podium in Cádiz as the league’s nine flying F50s prepare to go head to head in the Spain Sail Grand Prix presented by NEAR.
Peter Burling’s New Zealand, which picked up consecutive victories in Plymouth and Copenhagen, dominated the vote, picking up 46% of the vote as the team most likely to make the podium.
Defending champions Australia, which has now not topped the podium for three events in a row, was voted a close second, with 28% of the vote. Ben Ainslie’s Great Britain meanwhile was voted into third, with 24% of the vote.
Switzerland was voted the team least likely to make the podium, followed by France and Denmark.
It comes after the nine teams took to the water for the first time for four practice races on Friday, which saw Australia come out on top. The Aussies won two out of three fleet races and topped the podium in the practice Final against fierce rivals New Zealand and Phil Robertson’s Canada.
SailGP Russell Coutts unveiled his predictions for the top performing teams in Cádiz, with Australia in first, followed by New Zealand and Great Britain in third.
