The eye-watering speed of SailGP’s F50s have been captured against the iconic backdrop of Chicago’s skyline in SailGP’s exclusive Chicago City Collection.
The collection, which was created by Chicago based designer Justin Van Genderen, is now available to buy ahead of the T-Mobile U.S Sail Grand Prix | Chicago at Navy Pier this weekend.
Van Genderen, who created the two designs, said he was given ‘free rein’ on the collection and set about ‘highlighting the sport and speed while keeping the city present’.
“SailGP was all new to me so I did research and watched lots of videos to do the prints,” he said. “I was excited to work on something new and about the sport itself.”
A freelance designer for 15 years, Van Genderen started out ‘in the poster world’, designing movie posters and creating his own artwork and t-shirts, which he sells at the 2046 Print Shop. Alongside his own work, Van Genderen creates designs for a variety of clients, including NASA, SpaceX and SailGP.
“I love jumping from one thing to another and learning about new industries,” he says. “It’s super fun and I can’t believe I get to do this stuff sometimes.”
Van Genderen’s designs will adorn the tees, hoodies and tote bags on sale at the T-Mobile U.S Sail Grand Prix | Chicago at Navy Pier and will also be available to purchase as wall prints.
