Denmark SailGP Team presented by ROCKWOOL endured a frustrating opening day in Cádiz at Spain Sail Grand Prix, as a trio of underwhelming results left them with work to do on Sunday.

The Danish boat is propping up the rankings at the halfway point after tricky conditions made life difficult and consigned them to a seventh, eighth and ninth placed finish in the opening three races in southern Spain.

“It was a really tough day for us,” admits driver Nicolai Sehested. “The conditions were tricky, with light winds and heavy swell, but we just didn’t adapt quick enough. No excuses from me – we weren’t good enough and we have to learn.”

Denmark started the day sitting in fourth place overall in the Season 3 standings – and need to improve on the second day in Spain in order to maintain their impressive overall spot.

“We’ve never really sailed in these conditions before, and you could see it. We did our best, but it just wasn’t good enough.”

He continues: “We need to go away and study the data, to come back stronger tomorrow.

We will work hard tonight to analyse our performance and the other teams, to see if we can find a solution ahead of tomorrow.”
