SailGP fans have predicted the top three teams they think will make the podium in Chicago as the nine-strong flying F50s prepare to do battle in front the the city’s iconic skyline.

Tom Slingsby’s Australia dominated, picking up 28% of the vote, followed by Ben Ainslie’s Great Britain with 20% while 18% chose Jimmy Spithill’s USA, who will be looking to take advantage of the home crowd support.

It comes after the teams sized each other up during three practice races on Friday, which saw Australia come out on top. Light wind conditions hampered training while racing in freshwater for the first time surprised crews by increasing boat speed by about 5%.

SailGP Russell Coutts has also revealed his predictions for the top performing teams in Chicago, picking Great Britain, the U.S. and Peter Burling’s New Zealand.
