Antonio Alquézar has been announced as the new CEO of the Spain SailGP Team. A professional with over 25 years of experience in business development, marketing and sales. Alquézar joins the team as they embark on Season 4, which gets underway next week in Chicago.
With a strong entrepreneurial and executive management profile, Alquézar’s career to date has combined both international and national experience in strategic marketing, campaign planning, commercial and sponsorship across many sectors, including media, entertainment, finance and consumer goods. He also has strong links with the sports industry.
Alquézar began his professional career working in the President's Office of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). His next move was into major event leading teams in marketing and strategic planning across Europe and the USA. Roles included the America’s Cup, Formula 1, Kappa (BasicNet) and National Geographic along with ownership of brands such as Grifone, before moving on to sports advisory and infrastructure financing with Redstone. He is serving on the board of Córdoba Club de Fútbol. Since then, he has been advising investors and sports assets in general management, strategy and revenue optimization.

In particular around the Spain Sail Grand Prix in October, which is starting to establish itself as a must-attend event on the sporting calendar with record attendance last year.”
As the new CEO, Alquézar will be managing both the Spanish team, in which he will determine its direction at a strategic level; and the Spain Sail Grand Prix | Andalucía - Cádiz which will take place on October 14-15, 2023.
This announcement takes place right before Season 4’s start at the Rolex United States Sail Grand Prix | Chicago at Navy Pier on June 16-17.
