Last month’s Spain Sail Grand Prix in Cádiz has been voted the best event of Season 4 so far by SailGP fans.
Cádiz picked up a commanding 31% of the vote when members of SailGP’s fan loyalty program The Dock were asked to pick their favorite event from Chicago, Los Angeles, Saint-Tropez, Taranto and Cádiz.
The event saw the United States secure a stunning victory over rivals ROCKWOOL DEN and Australia after squeaking into the Final by a margin of just two points ahead of New Zealand.
The triumph followed a period of adversity for Jimmy Spithill’s team, which included the injury of flight controller Hans Henken in Taranto, and marked the team’s first event win since Saint-Tropez last season.
Dock members also chose their standout moments from the event, including the U.S. team dedicating their win to Henken, Canada and Spain’s reignited rivalry and the return of New Zealand to the racetrack after the team was forced to sit out Taranto due to F50 damage.
It comes as SailGP prepares to head to the United Arab Emirates for this season’s Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix presented by P&O Marinas on December 9-10. The event, which will mark the last of 2023, will see the 10-strong F50 fleet go to battle against the spectacular backdrop of the iconic city on Mina Rashid.
