Emirates GBR strategist Hannah Mills has revealed it is ‘definitely [her] goal’ to drive an F50 in SailGP.

Speaking at a pre-event press conference ahead of Season 4’s opener in Chicago, Mills reflected on Season 3, which saw her take time away from the team to have a baby.

“Coming back and getting back on board and into the strategist role has been the first goal,” she said.

Looking ahead, she predicted more opportunities to get behind the steering wheel in Season 4.

“Hopefully this season we’re going to find some time for more to do some more driving and see where it goes,” she said, adding that ‘it’s definitely a goal to drive’.

Mills stepped in at the press conference for driver and team CEO Ben Ainslie, who was unable to attend due to personal reasons. In his stead, double Olympic champion Giles Scott will be driving the British team in practice racing. Ainslie will return to the British F50 in time for official racing on Friday.

Mills also reacted to the news that SailGP has reached a free-to-air broadcast deal with ITV in the UK, describing it as ‘huge news’ for the British team and wider league.

“Hopefully it’s going to bring more and more people to SailGP and to this incredible sport in an amazing way through the ITV platform, so we’re really excited about this,” she said.

The Rolex United States Sail Grand Prix | Chicago at Navy Pier will take place on June 16 & 17, with racing kicking off at 16:00 CDT. Full broadcast information and How To Watch details are HERE.
