Driver Phil Robertson has announced that there will be changes to the crew line-up of the Canada SailGP Team in the coming days.

Following on from the Spain Sail Grand Prix in Cadiz, Chris Draper decided to step down from his position as wing trimmer, a decision Draper felt was the best for him and for the team.

Initially, Draper joined the team solely for the Canadian debut in Bermuda (May 2022) but immediately thereafter, confirmed his commitment to the team for the entire season and continued into Season 4, despite the unsettling change of ownership last May.

“I have the utmost respect for Chris, as a sailor and friend. Chris was an integral part of the Canadian team since inception, providing a very stable influence for the team," said Robertson. "Chris’ expertise and experience were key in developing and upskilling this new team. We have been through incredible highs and lows since the start of Season 3 and Chris played a critical part in the successes of the team to date. Chris is a leader, mentor, teacher and most importantly a great friend to all."

A new wing trimmer for the Canada SailGP Team will be announced shortly.
