Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team has taken over the 3D digital billboard in Central London’s Piccadilly Circus. A video which shows the Emirates GBR F50 appearing to jump out of the screen is on Europe’s largest advertising display ahead of Season 4’s first European event, the France Sail Grand Prix in Saint-Tropez, taking place on 9 and 10 September.
Emirates GBR Team members Hannah Mills OBE and Matt Gotrel MBE attended the
huge screening in Piccadilly Circus on Tuesday in full race kit and were surrounded by crowds who were excited to see the Olympic Champions. The video appears on the screen for a full week, until Sunday 3 September, and is the launch of SailGP’s ‘We Are Racing’ global brand campaign. The launch comes as the global championship begins its European leg, with Saint-Tropez being followed by Grands Prix in Taranto, Italy, on 23 and 25 September and Andalucia-Cádiz, on 14 and 15 October.
Emirates GBR Strategist, Hannah Mills MBE, said: “It’s fantastic to see SailGP on such a prominent platform and it has been great to see up close. While the new brand campaign aims to grow our audience and fan base – which will be great to have more people around the world cheering us on – I also hope that it inspires the next generation. As athletes, our actions can have a real impact and influence others. I'm passionate about using that platform to get people involved in both sport and sustainability, which is the core of SailGP.”
The Piccadilly Circus screening also celebrates SailGP’s new UK broadcaster with ITV becoming the latest home of SailGP and the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team. Emirates GBR fans in the UK can stream all the events live on ITVX with highlights from each event available the following week. For the first time, highlights from one of SailGP’s showcase events in Saint-Tropez will be shown on ITV1.
