Excitement is building for the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney after the full nine-strong F50 fleet hit the water ahead of racing this weekend.
The nine international teams took advantage of the crucial training time by practicing maneuvers in Sydney’s gusty conditions against the city’s spectacular backdrop.
Winds of up to 40 km/h are forecast for this weekend, resulting in the fleet being fitted with the smallest 18m wing ahead of official practice racing on Friday.
Home town heroes Australia currently sit at the top of the leaderboard going into Sydney with a comfortable nine-point lead while Peter Burling’s New Zealand sits in second.
Emirates Team GBR in third is set to face competition from Quentin Delapierre’s France, which sits just one-point behind in fourth, and Denmark, which is three points behind in fifth.
