The one week countdown to the highly anticipated Mubadala SailGP Season 3 Grand Final in San Francisco has begun.
SailGP’s nine-strong flying F50 fleet is preparing for two days of fast and furious, close to shore racing against the iconic backdrop of San Francisco’s city skyline.
The pressure is building as the top teams in the league gear up for a fight to reach the winner-takes-all, three-boat Grand Final.
Five fleet races will precede the Grand Final, giving teams one last chance to pick up crucial Championship points and secure a spot in the final three.
Two-time and defending champion Australia is the only team to have guaranteed a spot in the Grand Final, while Peter Burling’s New Zealand looks comfortable in second place.
However, with just one-point between France in third and Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team in fourth, the stage is set for a fierce showdown between the two teams.
The Mubadala SailGP Season 3 Grand Final is the final installment of Season 3’s 11-event program. Racing will take place between 2.30pm-4pm PDT on May 6 & 7, with league’s hydrofoiling catamarans going head to head just meters from shoreside crowds.
