Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team’s rocky journey through Season 3 has been examined in the latest episode of Racing on the Edge, Anatomy of Speed.
Released just in time for race week, the episode charts significant team events throughout Season 3, including the team’s three-year sponsorship deal with Emirates and Hannah Mills’ return after the birth of her first child.
Elsewhere, the episode builds up to the upcoming showdown between Ben Ainslie’s crew and Quentin Delapierre’s France on the iconic waters of San Francisco Bay.
Speaking about his opponent, Ainslie describes Delapierre as ‘the most impressive sailor in SailGP right now’.
“In terms of coming into a new team that was on the back foot massively, turning things around and in terms of leading the team and performance on the water - it’s one of the most impressive things I’ve seen in sailing,” he said.
Looking ahead to San Francisco, Ainslie is honest that ‘it’s going to be a dogfight’ between the British and French crews.
“It’s going to be very exciting to see who gets through to that Grand Final,” he said.
