SailGP swept up at this week’s Foiling Awards, picking up three awards including the coveted Forlanini Award for making the most significant contribution to the global foiling industry.
The award was decided by a jury and accepted on behalf of SailGP by Canada SailGP Team CEO Jean Sebastien Chenier Proteau.
Speaking about the decision to recognize SailGP, former winner and jury member Mylene Hovington said: “We decided to award the Forlanini to SailGP because they were able to greatly expand the foiling catchment area by offering an excellent show with a high level of media exposure, while at the same time strongly emphasizing their great commitment to environmental sustainability.”
Elsewhere, SailGP won the Event Category with the highest number of fan votes, while Canada SailGP Team’s We CAN Foil program picked up the Foiling Pathway Award. This award is a new addition that recognizes an outstanding project promoting foiling within a certain territory.
Held annually, the Foiling Awards seek to recognize the best foiling performances, projects and products as decided by an online vote.
