A tough day on the scoreboard for the Swiss after challenging conditions - and technical problems with the port rudder at times during racing - but the team will regroup and resolve the issues to come back fighting hard tomorrow.

Wing trimmer Will Ryan said: “Day one here in Los Angeles and it was a really tricky day, very changeable conditions, really tight racecourse and with 10 boats its something that we haven’t seen before. For me, I’m still deep in the learning process, it was a lot of fun but I’m a super competitive person so it was tough today and we want to do better for sure.”

Flight controller Jason Saunders said: “It wasn’t our best day out there today, it was a really tough day and tricky conditions, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up and learn from it. I think we can make some gains over night and hopefully come out firing tomorrow. We seemed to be struggling with one of our port rudders, so we’ve got to try and get that changed out for tomorrow as it’s making it quite difficult to fly the boat.”
