The third and final event of the European leg of SailGP Season 4 takes place this weekend, 14 - 15 October, in vibrant Cádiz, an ancient port city in the Andalucía region of Spain. The SailGP fleet will be back up to ten teams on the start line, after New Zealand suffered a dramatic wing collapse post racing in Saint-Tropez last month.

Season 4 // Switzerland F50 underway against city of Cadiz shoreline

It’s been just three weeks since the team were last racing in Italy, where winds of 45 km/h resulted in plenty of drama on day one, and tricky light wind conditions challenged crews on day two. More light wind racing conditions are forecast for the teams in Cadiz this weekend.

Swiss Driver Sebastien Schneiter said: "Taranto last month was quite a difficult regatta for us, we showed some good improvements, but it was not a great result overall. But in the past few weeks, we’ve regrouped and there’s been plenty we have been working on to set us up for the racing this weekend.

“If we can start well and keep our position around the racecourse and gain some positions, we will be happy for that, anything in the top half of the leader board is our aim this weekend.”

CEO Tanguy Cariou said: “Cadiz is our fifth event of the season and final event of the European leg. We’ve really enjoyed the racing in Europe and being closer to home, it's been good for our fans and supporters to watch live.

Season 4 // Switzerland with France and Emirates GBR underway in Cadiz practice racing

“It’s great to have more and some new events confirmed on the schedule. After Spain we head to the UAE with events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and later in the season to Halifax in Canada, which is a new venue in the league. We’re not even half way through [Season 4] yet, there’s still a long way to go.”

Ahead of the SailGP racing in Cadiz this weekend, Swiss SailGP Team hosted the WE Foundation SailGP One Sport Race, featuring 10 SailGP athletes and 10 para sailors racing in the RS Venture Connect dinghy. The team is using its sporting platform to champion equal opportunities and together with its main and SailGP Race for the Future partner, Stiftelsen VI (WE Foundation), is developing projects that help to promote inclusivity within the sport of sailing.
