The incoming Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team has recruited British athlete Leigh McMillan to the role of wing trimmer.
McMillan is no stranger to SailGP having previously raced with the French team under former driver Billy Besson in the same role. Current driver Quentin Delapierre replaced McMillan when he took over the team at the start of Season 3, replacing him with Kevin Peponnet.
Announcing McMillan’s appointment, Brazil pointed to his extensive past racing experience, with three America’s Cup campaigns, most recently with INEOS Britannia in Barcelona, and two Olympic campaigns in 2004 and 2008.
McMillan is the fifth member of Brazil’s crew to be announced and will race alongside driver Martine Grael, grinders Marco Grael and Mateus Isaac, and strategist Richard Mason.
The team’s flight controller and reserve strategist are yet to be announced.
