The incoming Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team is quickly taking shape after a run of athlete announcements.

The team has announced the recruitment of Brazilian sailor Mateus Isaac, quickly following the news that Marco Grael - brother to driver Martine Grael - joined the team. Together, the pair will form the team’s grinding partnership, turning the handles to drive the F50’s wingsail.

2024/25 Season // Mateus Isaac named Brazil grinder

Hailing from São Paulo, Isaac has had great success as a professional windsurfer, becoming a ten-time Brazilian champion, six-time South American champion and picking up a gold medal in the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Most recently, he competed at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in the Men’s IQFoil class.

2024/25 Season // Brazil team during Bermuda training camp

Announcing his appointment, the team described Isaac as a ‘leading name in the sailing scene’, adding ‘he brings all his strength, technique and passion for the sea to shine in SailGP’.

Isaac’s appointment means three of Brazil’s six crew members have been announced; Isaac, two-time Olympic champion Martine Grael as driver and Marco Grael as grinder.

The Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team will go to battle against the wider F50 fleet at the 2024/25 Season opener in Dubai on November 23/24.
