This is the moment Canada and ROCKWOOL DEN missed the finish line of the second fleet race before Canada dramatically collided with the finish mark.

Both the Danish and Canadian crews were coming up to the line behind France and New Zealand before Canada seemed to lose control and push the Danish wide.

Just before the Canadians missed the finish line, driver Phil Robertson dramatically steered the F50 into the finish mark in desperation to officially finish the race - and it worked, with the Canadians finishing the race behind the Kiwis in 5th, while the Danish finished in 8th.

However damage sustained to the Canadian F50 earned the team a four point deduction to its event score and two point deduction to its season score.

Speaking about the incident after racing, ROCKWOOL DEN driver Nicolai Sehested said he expected Robertson to ‘luff’ the Danish team because the two teams are ‘equal points in the season championship’.

“I didn’t quite expect him to put on the rocks and hit the mark,” he said. “I knew he was crazy but I didn’t know he was that crazy.”

Canada strategist Annie Haeger revealed the team ‘wasn’t sure where the finish line was’.

“Once we had it in our sights it was a little bit too late and obviously we were trying to keep keep the safety of the boats around us and trying to keep everyone safe out there.”
