ROCKWOOL Denmark SailGP Team sits in third after Race Day 1 at the ROCKWOOL Canada Sail Grand Prix, after a second race win gave them the early advantage in the battle for the podium.
The team – led by Nicolai Sehested – scored a perfect Race 2, leading over the line and keeping pole position for the whole race to finish ahead of the competition.
It was a solid response from the ROCKWOOL team – racing in Canada for the first time –after a disappointing start to Race 1 saw it fall behind in the early stages and fight back to claim a sixth place.
And the action on Saturday ended with the Danes grabbing fifth place to lock their spot in the top three.
Sehested reacted: “We’re happy to be in the mix – it’s all to play for tomorrow, and will be something of a restart as it’s so tight in the top seven.”
“We are a bit frustrated as we feel we threw some places away in the final race, but overall, it was a nice day and great to post a win on the board. We go home and will come out firing tomorrow.”
The team were supported by more than 100 ROCKWOOL fans on the Halifax waterfront to mark ROCKWOOL’s title partnership of the event, as the boats raced just metres from the shoreline to put on an exhilarating show.
Race Day 2 at the ROCKWOOL Canada Sail Grand Prix starts at 1600 local time on Sunday, which is 2100 CEST. Fans in Denmark can tune in on TV2 Sport from 2030.
