SailGP fans are split between the likelihood of an Australian or New Zealand victory in Abu Dhabi, as the league’s 10 national teams prepare to go to battle.

A total of 26% fans backed both the Aussies and Kiwis to win on Mina Zayed, despite ROCKWOOL DEN sitting second on the overall Championship leaderboard.

At the top of the leaderboard, Australia regains permanent driver Tom Slingsby after his absence from Dubai and remains on the hunt for its first Season 4 victory. The Kiwis meanwhile will look to capitalize on the momentum from their last event win in Dubai.

It comes after both Australia and New Zealand had a bumpy practice race day in Abu Dhabi, with New Zealand finishing in 7th and Australia ending the day at the bottom of the leaderboard in 10th.

Elsewhere, a total of 19% of fans backed Phil Robertson’s Canada to win in Abu Dhabi after an improved showing in Dubai. The team finished third overall and seemed to benefit from the presence of new wing trimmer Paul Campbell-James and coach Philippe Presti.

ROCKWOOL DEN, which will race with Nathan Outteridge behind the wheel, and France were in 4th and 5th with 10% and 7% of the vote respectively, while only 4% of fans backed Emirates GBR to win the event. The British team will race with Giles Scott as driver for the first time following Ben Ainslie’s departure after Dubai.

On the other end of the spectrum, Germany and Switzerland were voted least likely to win in Abu Dhabi - receiving 0% of the vote.
