Canada made the best starts of the entire fleet throughout Season 4, according to data from the F50s - topping all start line metrics.

Phil Robertson’s team - together with Australia - was the quickest to cross the line, taking on average just one second after the gun. By contrast, Spain took the longest to begin the race - taking more than double the time, an average of 2.5 seconds.

Canada also had the highest starting speed, clocking an average of 42.7 km/h starting speed across the season - more than 7 km/h faster than the slowest of the fleet - the United States with a starting speed of 35.3 km/h.

Canada was also consistently positioned closest to the line at the gun - just 12 meters. Conversely, Season 4 champion Spain was positioned the furthest away - an average of 29.3m at the gun.

Despite making the best starts, Canada did not top the fleet for the best Mark 1 ranking. It was Tom Slingsby's Australia which had the highest Mark 1 position - an average of 4th, followed by France’s 4.6, New Zealand’s 4.7 and Canada’s 4.8.
