This is the moment Quentin Delapierre’s France executed aggressive starting tactics to squeeze through the congested fleet and blast over the starting line in Sydney.

The team’s masterful start unfolded in the third fleet race and saw them finish the race in a third.

This, combined with the team’s 5th and 4th place finishes in the first two races, meant Delapierre’s crew finished the day in 4th overall - just 3 points off New Zealand in 3rd.

It came after an aggressive day of racing tactics by driver Quentin Delapierre, who squeezed the Germans out of the inside track around a marker, resulting in a near capsize.

Speaking about the start, Delapierre said: “This is the right strategy for us - to be in the pack and come up from behind.”

“I think it was a good show because we had a lot of contact, we had the moment with Germany at the top mark, it was really tricky - we just happy to be in the top 5 and looking forward to the fight to the final.”

The KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney resumes on February 25, with racing from 16:00 AEDT.
