LONDON - April 8, 2021 - SailGP – the sport’s pinnacle league – is delighted to announce its partnership with Champagne Barons de Rothschild covering all the Season 2 events across three continents and eight countries. SailGP Season 2 will see the sport’s best athletes go head-to-head – starting April 24 in Bermuda – in identical, supercharged catamarans representing national teams from Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the USA.

The Champagne Barons de Rothschild House has long been involved in various sailing events and races around the world, notably through the sponsorship of Benjamin de Rothschild’s family racing team, the Gitana Team. Total discipline and the highest standards down to the smallest detail are the values that govern the crafting of a “Grand Vin de Champagne”, sharing similarities in the construction of the high-tech foiling catamarans and the extraordinary performance of the world-class athletes that pilot them.

Throughout the global league’s second season, SailGP is focusing on its objective of redefining the sport and in doing so, act responsibly as the first climate-positive sports property. Powered by nature, SailGP intends to set new sustainability standards and accelerate the transition to clean energy. Champagne Barons de Rothschild, resulting from the alliance between the three branches of the Rothschild family and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit for 250 years, is proud to be associated with this pioneering and responsible ethos and the ultimate goal of achieving excellence.

Champagne Barons de Rothschild Managing Director Frédéric Mairesse said: "The finest sporting performances are always a source of emotion and shared enjoyment, not only among the athletes but among the spectators and fans all around the world. We are delighted to be helping to promote this spirit of conviviality and excellence that is a driving force in everything we do."

SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts said: "We are delighted to announce Champagne Barons de Rothschild as an exclusive supplier to SailGP. Their values of total discipline, high standards and attention to detail align perfectly with ours. We are excited for our second season to start on April 24 in Bermuda, and I can’t think of a better way to toast the thrilling victories."
