Sail Racing has been appointed the official clothing partner for the Denmark SailGP Team and will provide the team with technical on and off the water gear. Sail Racing has also designed and developed the official merchandise collection for the team that will be available onsite at the events, at sailracing.com, and at SailGP's online store.
“We are excited to announce this partnership with Denmark SailGP Team, a team that we have collaborated with since last season but now finally have as a Sail Racing Test Team. We believe that the Danish team has a great opportunity to perform at the very top, with the amount of experience the team has onboard. They are outfitted in our Reference collection which is developed for this type of sailing.” says Joakim Berne, CEO at Sail Racing International AB.
“Sail Racing always strives to improve, renew and adapt the development to what the athletes demand. Therefore, it is highly important for us to have collaborations with teams that compete in SailGP, which is exactly the type of sail racing that we focus on. Every comment and feedback help us push innovation and technology forward.” says Joakim Berne, CEO at Sail Racing International AB.
“We are so happy with the new gear we have received from Sail Racing. The function and quality is exactly what you need for this extreme sport. Many of us on the team have good experience of the brand and have worked with Sail Racing before and are proudly wearing the gear.” says Nicolai Sehested, Helm of Denmark SailGP Team.
Denmark SailGP Team is presented by ROCKWOOL and is one of the newest teams for SailGP Season 2. Helm Nicolai Sehested is a multi-time round the world ocean racer, and there are also Olympic and World Championship winners on the team.
Recognizing the need to better the sport and make it more inclusive, SailGP has introduced a new initiative, which is designed to create a professional pathway for female athletes to compete at the pinnacle of the sport.
As part of this process, Denmark SailGP Team has recently held a female athlete selection camp in France, featuring six of Denmark’s top female athletes. The next phase of that initiative will see two selected female athletes immersed within the team for the first event of Season 2, in Bermuda.
“We think this is a great initiative from SailGP, we would love to see more women in high-speed sailing, and in sailing in general. This will for sure step up the game even further.” says Joakim Berne, CEO at Sail Racing International AB.
The full Denmark SailGP Team roster will be unveiled on Tuesday 23 March, one month before the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix presented by the Hamilton Princess, which takes place on 24-25 April 2021. There will be 8 nations competing during SailGP Season 2 at iconic venues around the world, including the first ever Scandinavian event – the ROCKWOOL Denmark Sail Grand Prix in Aarhus, on 20-21 August 2021.
The long-term partnership between SailGP and Sail Racing continues, where Sail Racing delivers clothing to the entire SailGP organization.
