SailGP, Red and White Fleet partner to provide premier viewing of the global championship's U.S. debut on San Francisco Bay

SAN FRANCISCO - March 6, 2019 - SailGP and the Red and White Fleet - San Francisco’s leading bay cruise operator serving the San Francisco Bay for over 126 years - today announced a partnership for San Francisco SailGP, set for May 4-5, 2019. The Red and White Fleet is designated as the exclusive provider of on-water experiences for families, individuals and corporate guests for San Francisco SailGP, set to debut for U.S. audiences this spring on San Francisco Bay.

Exclusive experiences will be offered on the Red and White Fleet’s newest vessels - the Zalophus and the Enhydra. Fans will share the stunning bay with world-class sailors and supercharged catamarans as they race at electrifying speeds expected to exceed 50 knots (60mph). Red and White fleet spectator boats will have a preferred viewing position on the race area perimeter - guaranteeing the closest viewing of the action - as well as complimentary food and beverage.

SailGP is a new annual global sports championship featuring the world’s fastest race boats. During the inaugural 2019 season, six national teams are competing in five events around the world – Sydney, San Francisco, New York, Cowes (UK) and Marseille (France).

“Red and White Fleet will offer not-to-be-missed opportunities to get up close and witness the next generation of sailing,” said SailGP Event Director Jennie Kim. “An authority on San Francisco Bay for more than a century, the Red and White Fleet will deliver an unforgettable viewing and hospitality experience for all fans seeking exclusive front-row access.”

“The exclusive partnership between Red and White Fleet and SailGP puts spectators on the water and in the middle the action,” said Red and White Fleet President Thomas C. Escher. “The best way to view these 60mph catamarans is up close, and we look forward to giving guests a front row seat and world-class hospitality experience on the Red and White Fleet.”

In San Francisco, guests will watch national teams from the United States, Australia, China, Great Britain, France and Japan compete in a total of five short-format fleet races, with the top two teams racing for a place on the winner’s podium in a match race finale on Sunday, May 5.
