What are Coinbase Predictions markets?
So let’s ask the golden question for those who are new to this space, what is a prediction market? Like Coinbase Predictions, these markets are platforms that let you trade on the outcome of various real-life events across various categories. In summary, these markets range from different happenings across the globe – whether it is a sports tournament, a weather disturbance, elections, or even the unstable value of crypto.
These markets are surging in popularity because they are simple and don’t come with much of a learning curve. Prediction markets at Coinbase ask straightforward questions, such as whether there will be a Fed rate cut in September or if Bitcoin will hit $100,000 by January 2027.
Each market offers Yes/No event contracts, and you can purchase any of these contracts based on your view. If you believe an event will happen, you can purchase a Yes contract or buy the No contract if you don’t. I also spotted several range-based prediction markets where you predict outcomes within set limits, for example, if Ethereum’s price will fall between $2,000 and $2,499.99 by the end of 2026. There are also a good number of multi-outcome markets that allow more than two possible results.

How do Coinbase Predictions work?
Event contracts have prices ranging from $0.01 to $0.99 and can change based on trading activity in that market. If more traders believe an event ends up taking place in the real world, they’ll go for Yes contracts, and this can lead to increased Yes contract prices. Conversely, if traders think an event is unlikely and start selling their positions, those contract prices may drop. It’s similar to what I found during my Kalshi review.
Contract prices also indicate the market’s perception of the probability of the outcome. For instance, if a market on whether gas prices will go above $4 by the weekend is trading at $0.71, it means traders believe there’s a 71% chance of it happening. So you can always use the prices and charts in each market to get a feel of other traders’ sentiment.
When the event actually happens, correct contracts will settle at $1, and you make a profit. But incorrect predictions are worth $0, and you lose what was spent to purchase the contracts, nothing more.
A major upside is that you really don’t have to wait for the event to settle, that is, happen. You can sell your contracts at the prevailing market rates to lock in a profit or mitigate losses if things aren’t going the way you predicted.
Are there any Coinbase Predictions bonuses?
As I mentioned in my Coinbase Predictions promo code review, there aren’t any specific bonuses for predictions right now. But that’s not much of a bummer, especially as you can convert any reward you receive from the existing Coinbase promos to USD or USDC, which can then be used for trades.
Here are some of the bonuses I picked up.
Coinbase signup bonus
If you’re totally new to Coinbase, you can receive up to $2,000 in Bitcoin after making a first single crypto purchase of at least $50. What you’ll receive is completely random and determined by spinning a bonus wheel. According to Coinbase, 99% of new users collect rewards between $10 and $100 in Bitcoin. Only 1% get either $1,000 or $2,000 in BTC. Needless to say, I didn’t fall into the 1% bracket, but my $30 worth of Bitcoin was generous enough.
Coinbase referral bonus
Sharing is caring, and inviting your friends to join Coinbase could see you receiving $30 in Bitcoin. Your friend will also have access to the same bonus, but they have to sign up with your link, verify their account, and purchase at least $20 worth of crypto.
Coinbase Learning rewards
You also get rewarded for watching lessons in the Learn section and passing the simple quizzes. But remember that these bonuses can change.
Coinbase Predictions review: What you can trade on
There are no fewer than 14 broad categories of Coinbase prediction markets. If it matters in the real world, you’ll most likely find a market for it here. This means access to hundreds, if not thousands, of prediction markets; everything from politics to sports, crypto, culture, weather, economics, and more is available here.
🗳️ Politics
Trade on political events, elections, legislation, and geopolitical events, such as the US-Iran nuclear deal or when traffic at the Strait of Hormuz will return to normal by a specific date.
💹 Crypto
Coinbase crypto prediction markets span 5-minute, 15-minute, hourly, and long-term markets for BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, DOGE, and other tokens.
🏅 Sports
You’ll also find live and future markets for 19+ sports, including basketball, baseball, soccer, hockey, cricket, tennis, golf, and lacrosse.
🎭 Culture
These Coinbase Predictions markets are all about entertainment events such as awards, music, TV shows, gaming, and pop culture, including Oscar winners or Game Awards results.
📈 Economics
These prediction markets span Fed decisions, employment rates, inflation, GDP, gas prices, housing, and other major financial indicators.
🌤️ Weather
I had a good time predicting daily and hourly temperatures in several cities. There are also markets for hurricanes, snow, rain, and other natural disasters.
Coinbase prediction markets are easy to trade
Similar to my findings during my in-depth Crypto.com prediction markets review, Coinbase is incredibly easy to trade on. The prediction markets are built into the Coinbase website, so you just have to click on Predictions at the top of the homepage to launch it.
These markets are categorized into distinct sectors – Politics, Sports, Crypto, Entertainment, Elections, Mentions, Commodities, Economics, Financials, Weather, and a lot more. There’s also a trending section where you’ll find the hottest markets in all of these categories. Each market has charts to help you notice price changes, settlement sources, trading volume, and live contract prices.
I had no issues navigating the site, and you should find it just as easy even if you’re new to these markets.
The app is perfect for on-the-go Coinbase Predictions
You don’t have to stay tied to your laptop or desktop to place trades, not when there’s a nifty app that can be downloaded on iOS and Android devices. You’ll enjoy access to all the same features as the browser version, but with added features like biometric logins and notifications to help you keep track of your trades and market movements.

Deposits and withdrawals at Coinbase Predictions
Contracts for Coinbase Predictions are purchased with USD or USDC, and that’s a plus since USDC is a stablecoin that isn’t very affected by price swings. You can fund your account using fiat or crypto. For fiat, payment methods include debit cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Crypto options include Bitcoin, Ethereum, or USDC and other coins. Do note that Coinbase Predictions has very low trading fees between $0.01 and $0.02 per contract.
Withdrawals are also via the same payment methods, and payouts from correct predictions can take up to 48 hours to show up in your account after settlement. Your winnings are automatically transferred to your primary account every two hours between 6am – 4pm ET on business days. This means that there’ll be no transfers during bank holidays or any other time outside the usual banking hours.
Customer support – how well does it hold up?
A rock-solid support system is non-negotiable for money matters, and this brand does well here, too. There’s round-the-clock support available via live chat, and you also have access to phone support, email, and a very detailed help center. Heads up, though. You have to sign into your account to access help from the live chat. I’ve had no issues or delays so far, and live chat is always my go-to if I can’t sort the issue using the help center.
Is Coinbase Predictions legit?
Coinbase launched its prediction markets in 2025, and they are legit and regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The CFTC ensures the brand adheres to rules on fair trading, transparent real-time contract prices, anti-manipulation rules, and anti-insider trading rules.
Also, the app and site are secure with the use of TLS encryption, and identity verification checks are required even before your first trade. You can sign up to Coinbase Predictions if you’re at least 18 years old and physically located in any US state except Nevada.
Conclusion: Coinbase Predictions offers a top-tier trading experience
If you want top-tier prediction markets spanning various major categories like sports, politics, culture, and the economy, you won’t go wrong with Coinbase Predictions. The platform is CFTC-regulated, has multi-factor authentication, and requires identity verification before you trade. You can deposit using both fiat and crypto methods, too, and withdrawals are just as easy.
Coinbase Predictions markets are incredibly easy to trade via the site or on the go using the mobile app. There isn’t any prediction-specific bonus, but that’s not a bother since Bitcoin rewards can be converted and used for your trades.
If all this sounds good to you, click the banners on this page to visit Coinbase Predictions and sign up today.
