Who could be the next NFL coach fired?
Dan Quinn leads the board right now with the Commanders sitting at 1-3-1 and having won just three games from their last 17. Quinn’s decision to run out the clock in overtime instead of trying a 42-yard field goal has reflected badly on him. Reports say he’ll get a chance to turn things around, but a poor performance at the 49ers in Monday Night Football could move his price sharply.
For many analysts, Todd Bowles is the pick of choice. Tampa is 1-5, having lost in overtime to Pittsburgh, and has failed to reach 20 points in four of the last five games. Bowles is priced at $0.29. NFL prediction markets are also accelerating around Nick Sirianni at the Eagles: given their expectations of making the playoffs, a 2-4 record at this stage is not what they were banking on.
Shane Steichen wasn’t expected to pull up trees in Indianapolis this season, but being 2-4 and having been on the wrong end of the Titans’ first win of the season means he’s struggling to upset a bonsai right now. Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon has also been vocal about the need to improve in quick order, so that’s been read as a sign of immediate peril.
The Cowboys lost 23-13 at Green Bay and now also have a 2-4 record, so Brian Schottenheimer is also in the firing line. The best prediction market sites have him at around $0.13, but it’s worth bearing in mind that he was a low-cost, internal hire and would therefore be a low-cost fire too – so Jerry Jones may feel the time is right to get a bigger name in the building.

It’s worth noting that there are two coaches left in the NFL without a single win this season, those being Jim Harbaugh at the Chargers and Jeff Hafley at the Dolphins.
