Polymarket $50 Promo Code PREDICTSAIL for France v England World Cup Third-Place Play-Off on 07-18-2026
The soccer showpiece is almost at an end, and for two former winners of this competition there comes the unwanted experience of playing off for the “privilege” of being third-best. The best prediction markets indicate that France are slight favorites.
Making it almost all the way to the final before being knocked out isn’t the way anyone wants to go through a World Cup, but the bronze medal match has historically often been a surprisingly good watch, often with plenty of goals to go around. That relaxed atmosphere is worth bearing in mind when checking sports prediction markets for the weekend’s game
How France and England got here
Neither of these sides really wants to be in this situation, having dreamed just a few days ago about winning their semi-final and going on to the biggest match in world soccer – but at this stage, no game is easy and small margins can be decisive.
France “upset” by Spain
The media reaction to France’s exit was a little excessive, really. Yes, they were many people’s pre-tournament favorites, but they were playing Spain, who hadn’t lost in 36 competitive games. And now it’s 37, because La Rioja played the occasion to perfection. France were unable to break down their opponents’ stubborn resistance and were fallible on the defensive side, giving away a penalty which Oyarzabal converted on 22 minutes. Then, as they sought to mount a second-half comeback, they were unlocked by Spain’s fast passing and Pedro Porro completed the task.
Argentina wins grudge contest over England
When England and Argentina face off, it’s rarely dull, and while it didn’t take the Hand of God to separate them this time, the Three Lions just fell short when it mattered most. Having moved serenely through the tournament to this point, both sides would have fancied their chances of a place in the final. In the end, it was a goal from Lautaro Martinez that eliminated England, whose decision to sit on a one-goal lead given them by Anthony Gordon backfired. At least in this consolation game, there’s a chance for Morgan Rogers to build on the encouraging cameos from their run with a longer run-out here.
