1. TICKETS

How can I buy a ticket for SailGP?
Tickets can be purchased online at our website.

How do I get my tickets?
Tickets will be emailed to you at the time of purchase. They will be scanned at the gates for fast entry. To present your ticket at the entry please use your mobile device whenever possible and help us be consistent with our sustainability efforts.

What if I can’t find my ticket or confirmation?
Please email us.

Will I be able to buy tickets on the day of the event?
KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix I Sydney has a limited number of tickets available for each of the event experiences. Due to safety reasons, the capacity at each venue is strictly capped. It is advisable to obtain your tickets from our website before arriving to the event. If tickets are not sold out prior to the event, they will be available until 12.00 for Genesis Island Tickets, and until 13.00 for On-Water Spectator Boats on each race day.

Can I duplicate and/or sell my ticket to another person?
No, unauthorised duplication or sale of your ticket may prevent you from being admitted into the event.

If I don’t have a ticket, can I still watch the racing and where?
You can watch the racing live on Fox Sports 507 & Kayo Sports at the following times:

  • Saturday 18 February from 16:00 - 18.00 AEDT
  • Sunday 19 February from 16:00 - 18.00 AEDT

2. LOCATION & TIMINGS

When is the event?
The race days are on Saturday 18 February and Sunday 19 February. The racing will take place approximately between 16.00 - 18.00 each day. Three races are scheduled per day and a public exclusion zone will be in place each day starting one hour prior to racing.

Where and when is the event?
There are multiple locations where this event will take place, depending on the ticket type you have purchased. Please check your inbox for any SailGP ticketing information on the week of the event.

The SailGP Village is located at Barangaroo, Sydney, NSW. The village will be open from 12.00 - 19.30 each race day, with pre- and post-racing entertainment taking place at the village. More info on the program coming soon.

Genesis Island
Please arrive at the meeting point at your scheduled departure time.

If your ticket indicates a 1.00pm departure time to Genesis Island – you will need to arrive at the location below to board to transfer vessel to Genesis Island. You will be required to take a return transfer from the Island back to Barangaroo from 5.30pm on Race Day.

If your ticket indicates a 2.00pm departure time to Genesis Island – you will need to arrive at the location below to board to transfer vessel to Genesis Island. You will be required to take a return transfer from the Island back to Barangaroo from 6.30pm on Race Day.

Your ticket is only valid for the date and experience you purchased – if the scheduled transfer time is missed, we cannot guarantee access to a different vessel and refunds will not be granted.

Please note that shuttle times may vary if racing is delayed.

Please note that the Genesis Island experience is only suitable for children 5 years and above.

Team Base Tours
Meet at the end of Barton Street (watersedge) directly in front of Crown Sydney – the area will be signed with SailGP signage and directional staff will be available to assist. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled tour time. Your ticket is only valid for the date and experience you purchased – if the scheduled tour time is missed, we cannot guarantee access to a different tour and refunds will not be granted.

Is anything else happening before the race days?
Yes! From 16 February, you’re able to join one of the Team Base Tours, click here for tickets. During the week commencing on the 13 February, you’ll also be able to see F50s practicing on Sydney Harbour with an official practice race scheduled for Friday 16 February.

Getting to the event
We are an event powered by nature and with sustainability at the forefront of all our actions. Please keep this in mind when choosing the transport mode to and from the event. Every little bit helps!

If you choose to travel to the SailGP Village at Barangaroo (departure point for Genesis Island, Spectator Boat and Team Base Tours) by car, the following public parking is recommended:

  • Car Park Barangaroo Reserve, 5 Towns Place, Barangaroo
  • Wilson Parking Barangaroo Point, 25b Hickson Rd, Millers Point
  • Divvy Parking, 30 Hickson Rd, Millers Point

3. CANCELLATION OF THE EVENT

What happens if the event is cancelled?
Should SailGP cancel the event, information about refund options will be issued at place of purchase.

What happens if the weather is bad?
This is an outdoor event and will proceed rain, hail or shine. The event venues are open air venues and will be affected by the prevailing weather conditions so come prepared. The event will only be cancelled if the weather conditions become extreme and dangerous on the day of the event or in the lead-up. Please note that an assessment regarding cancellation may be made on the event day itself, not necessarily in advance. Please check the SailGP website and social media before departing for the event for updates.

4. SAILGP VILLAGE

What and where?
The SailGP Village is the pre- and post-event hub on race days, located in the sparkling waterfront of Barangaroo Precinct. The SailGP Village will offer exciting programming for fans, SailGP race boat ‘fly by’ parade, display of the Australian SailGP Team F50 race boat, merchandise, interactive activations and retail. Please note that the racecourse is not visible from the SailGP Village .

Can I see races from the SailGP Village?
The racecourse is not visible from the SailGP Village.

When is the Village open?
The village is open from 12.00 - 19.30 each race day.

Disability access
Access to the event site is through standard pavements and roadways.

Can I buy food and drinks at the Village?
No, there is no food or drink (but refillable water stations) available at the SailGP Village. There is however a wide range of restaurants, eateries and bars available at the Barangaroo Precinct, which is just a short walk from the Village. Find out more information here.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?
You are welcome to bring food and/or non-alcoholic drinks with you to the SailGP Village. We also encourage you to bring your own water bottle with you, as there will be water stations available throughout the village for the refill.

Are there toilets available at the Village?
Yes, there are public toilets at the Barangaroo Precinct.

Can I bring kids?
Yes!

Can I fly my own drone / UAV?
No. CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) has deemed Sydney Harbour a no-fly area. For more information click here.

May I smoke at the event?
No, smoking is not permitted at the SailGP Village as it’s a smoke-free outdoor public space, according to the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000.

5. GENESIS ISLAND

What and where?
Genesis Island is literally in the middle of the race course and offers the ultimate experience with the best vantage point to view all of the races. The area will be transformed into an exclusive spectator venue complete with entertainment, food and beverages, screens showing live race coverage and commentary.

How do I get to the Island?
The Genesis Island tickets include a return ferry transfer to/from Genesis Island departing from the SailGP Village at Barangaroo.

Where do I board?
The boarding will be at the SailGP Village dock at Barangaroo, in front of Crown Sydney, Number 1, Barangaroo Avenue, Sydney, NSW.

What time does the ferry shuttle depart and return to the SailGP Village?
Please arrive at the meeting point 30 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.

If your ticket indicates a 1.00pm departure time to Genesis Island – you will need to arrive 30 minutes in advance at the location below to board to transfer vessel to Genesis Island. You will be required to take a return transfer from the Island back to Barangaroo at 5.30pm on Race Day.

If your ticket indicates a 2.00pm departure time to Genesis Island – you will need to arrive 30 minutes in advance at the location below to board to transfer vessel to Genesis Island. You will be required to take a return transfer from the Island back to Barangaroo at 6.30pm on Race Day.

To provide the best experience possible, our departure times are strictly observed so please ensure you arrive promptly. The boats cannot wait for late-comers and if you miss the shuttle, you will not be entitled to the refund.

Your ticket is only valid for the date and experience you purchased – if the scheduled transfer time is missed, we cannot guarantee access to a different vessel and refunds will not be granted.

Can I leave the island once I’m there/are pass outs available?
Genesis Island is located in the middle of the SailGP race course, and in the middle of the event exclusion zone. You will not be able to depart Genesis Island until the exclusion zone is inactive, which is approximately at 17:30 on each race day.

Can I travel to Genesis Island by myself?
No. Due to the Maritime enforced exclusion zone, no water taxis or private vessels will be able to cross through to the official viewing area on Genesis Island after 15.00 on race days. Please make sure that you catch the ferry included in your ticket instead. Missing the ferry may result in you being unable to travel to Genesis Island. You will not be provided with a refund for missing the scheduled ferry transfer.

How long does it take to get to Genesis Island from SailGP Village?
Approximately 25 minutes.

Disability Access
Due to the limitations of the wharf on Genesis Island, a permanent accessibility option to allow the use of wheelchairs on the island has not yet been identified and put in place by the Office of Environment & Heritage. Therefore, we will liaise with each person on a case by case basis so that we can work through your needs and requirements and look at whether we can accommodate these to support you in coming along to the event. If you are able to email us with some additional information this will help us determine whether you may be able to access Waterfront Premium - Genesis Island.

What should I bring with me?

  • Suitable footwear as the island can be rugged in places. Safety and comfort first
  • Sunscreen and a hat or cap
  • Refillable water bottles or an empty drinking container
  • In case of bad water, a waterproof jacket is a good idea

Will there be food and drinks available at Genesis Island?
Yes, a gourmet picnic hamper and premium open bar are included in your ticket price.

Can I bring my own food and drinks?
No. We encourage you however to bring your own water bottle, as there will be water stations available in the island for the refill.

Is there any seating available on Genesis Island?
Yes, there is.

Are there toilets available on Genesis Island and onboard the ferry?
Yes, toilets are available on both, on the ferry and on Genesis Island.

Can I bring kids?
Yes, but please note that there are no creche facilities available on Genesis Island. Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please make sure you watch your kids, and keep them away from the cliff edges.

Can I swim at Genesis Island?
Genesis Island is located on a busy harbour. There is a no swimming policy in place for the duration of this event.

What if I hurt myself whilst I am on the Island?
First Aid is available on the island. Please ask Security, Event Staff or First Aid Officers for help. Please consider others as well as your own safety. If someone is in need of medical attention please let Security, Event Staff or First Aid know so they can help. Safety comes first.

Conditions of entry to the event

  • This is an event for adults and families. Please watch your children at all times as the event venue is of hazardous nature.
  • Under 18yo’s will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times, no minors are allowed on the island without the supervision of an adult.
  • Admission to the event will only be granted upon presentation of a ticket.
  • It is a condition of entry that all patrons over 18yo present a valid and acceptable form of photo identification (Australian Drivers Licence, passport or RTA endorsed proof of age card).
  • You can purchase a concession ticket if you are an Australian full time student, an Australian Pensioner, if you hold an Australian Health Care Card.
  • Proof of concession must be provided at the time of booking.
  • As this is a licensed venue, entry will be refused to people who are intoxicated and/or disorderly.
  • Patrons choosing to bring valuables to the venue do so at their own risk.
  • Any patron may be required to undergo search, pat down, bag check and/or metal detector search at the event venues during the event. A person who refuses to undergo such a search, pat down and/or bag check may be prohibited from entering the event without being entitled to a refund of the admission fee, or such a visitor may be immediately removed from the event.
  • There are no pass outs.
  • This is an all weather event and will proceed in the case of rain, hail or (no) shine. No refund will be provided in case of the bad weather unless the event is being cancelled. For refund, check our Refund Policy available on this website.
  • There is no smoking at this event as you are on National Parklands
  • SailGP maintains a zero tolerance drug policy.
  • SailGP maintains a zero tolerance policy to dangerous, abusive and/or threatening behaviour. Anyone showing these behaviours will be ejected from the event venues at their own expense.
  • Intoxicated persons will be removed from the event venues at their own expense.
  • SailGP reserves the right to refuse entry to any persons who breach these Conditions of Entry.

What is the dress code?
Smart casual.

Are cameras and photography allowed at the event?
Yes, cameras are allowed, but please be mindful of those around you and respect their privacy. Any/all standing equipment, tripods or equipment that obstructs the view of other visitors is prohibited. Cameras with long lenses are not permitted within the race village.

Media and professional photographers must arrange accreditation access to media locations. If you have any questions, please email us.

There will be photography and filming taking place at event venues. If you do not wish to be captured please notify a member of staff.

This a fully licensed event
This means that you must be of the legal drinking age of 18+ to be able to obtain an alcoholic drink. Please note that external food & drink is not permitted at any of the event venues, and bags will be checked prior to departure.

Are water stations available?
Yes there will be water stations available on Genesis Island and you will be able to refill your water bottles. Please don’t forget to bring them with you and help us reduce the waste!

Are pets allowed?
Only trained assistance animals such as guide dogs are permitted at the event. Please contact us prior to purchasing your ticket to ensure your assistance animal is permitted in accordance with the Office of Environment & Heritage.

May I smoke at the event?
Genesis Island is a National Park and no smoking is allowed anywhere on the island nor on the ferry transfers at any time.

What is not allowed?
There will be a security check at all the event venues and prohibited items will be confiscated. SailGP does not take responsibility for confiscated items:

  • Weapons of any kind.
  • Fireworks and explosives.
  • Illegal substances.
  • Alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks, including water, juice, soft drinks etc. There are drinks available for purchase (if they are not already included in your admission fee) at all event venues. There are also water stations at all event venues where you can refill your own water bottle.
  • Food. There is food available for purchase (if it’s not already included in your admission fee) at all event venues.
  • Glass of any kind.
  • Video equipment (no video recording will be allowed).
  • Professional still camera equipment with detachable lens longer than 2 inches, tripods, big zooms, or commercial use rigs.
  • Audio recording equipment.
  • Bicycles, skateboards, scooters or personal motorized vehicles.
  • Instruments and laser pointers
  • Selfie sticks, including GoPro sticks.
  • Spray paint, large markers, Aerosol Cans.
  • Tents, tables and chairs.
  • Drones.
  • Totems or flags.
  • Large inflatables.
  • Umbrellas.

6. TEAM BASE TOURS

How long is the tour?
The tour takes approximately 45 mins.

Where do I meet the Tour Guide and board my water shuttle?
Meet at the end of Barton Street (watersedge) directly in front of Crown Sydney – the area will be signed with SailGP signage and directional staff will be available to assist. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled tour time. Your ticket is only valid for the date and experience you purchased – if the scheduled transfer time is missed, we cannot guarantee access to a different vessel and refunds will not be granted.

What do I need to wear?

  • Please make sure you wear closed heel and toe footwear. You will be entering a work site, so no thongs or similar shoes are permitted. You will receive a helmet upon entering the base area.
  • Sunscreen and a hat is recommended.

Is there a toilet available on the tour?
Yes.

Can I take photos at the base area?
Yes, you can bring your camera. But no drones or remote control vehicles/aircraft are permitted.

Can I bring the kids?
Absolutely, all ages are welcome. Children under the age of 5 years do not require a ticket but must be accompanied by a responsible adult in possession of a SailGP Guided Public Tour ticket.

Can I bring food?
You can bring snacks to the Team Base, but alcohol is strictly forbidden.

May I smoke at the Team Base?
Yes, there are smoking designated areas outside of the Team Base.

Accessibility
The Team Base features occasional uneven surfaces and trip hazards. Please mind your step, keep a close watch over children and take care at all times.

Visitor regulations
SailGP Technical Area is a working site and has restricted and accredited access requirements. Please stay with your Guide and keep within the public access areas. Public access areas may be further restricted at times to allow for the operational movements of the F50’s. This will be an exciting time so if this happens during your Guided Tour please follow the instructions of your guides, and enjoy this special moment.

7. SPECTATOR BOATS

On-Water Premium and On – Water Access tickets will go onsale on 21 November. Please check back to this area for further details at that time.
