Emirates GBR claimed its second consecutive event win in Taranto as the three-boat, winner-takes-all Final against Australia and the United States was terminated due to light winds.
A strong showing across the weekend ensured Ben Ainslie's team qualified for the Final in top spot, where they faced the Aussies and Jimmy Spithill's USA - who squeaked into the winner-takes-all showdown by the tightest of margins.
But none of the finalists were able to reach the third gate in the 16 minute race time limit - with winds dropping to just 7 km/h - resulting in the termination of the Final with Emirates GBR being awarded the win due to being placed first in the rankings after the five Fleet Races.
