SailGP
Australia-born sailor Jake Lilley joins the Canada SailGP Team ahead of Season 4 as a Grinder, having raced with Spain in Season 3.

Youth
Lilley was born and grew up in Brisbane, Australia. He always wanted to compete for Australia in the Olympic Games growing up, and was originally inspired to get into Triathlon around seven-years-old because of his father, and because Triathlon was a popular Olympic sport in Australia.

Around the age of 15 he had a nasty bike crash which kept Lilley off his bike for a length of time. His best friends at school loved sailing, so Lilley followed along one day and never looked back.

Career
Lilley switched very quickly from the Laser to the Finn, and he loved the technical side and physicality of the Olympic Finn Class.

In the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio he clawed his way up into the medal positions, but was unable to secure higher than an 8th place finish. He aimed for better at Tokyo 2020, but a major knee surgery five weeks before the games didn't help Lilley's cause and he only improved by one spot - moving up to 7th in the final rankings.
