SailGP
Following successful seasons with developing teams including China in Season 1 (podium finish) and Spain in Season 2, Phil Robertson joined the new Canada SailGP Team as Driver for Season 3.
Youth
Sailing is Robertson’s life and has been since the age of 10, when he started racing competitively. At 16, he preferred the challenge of sailing in a team and joined the prestigious RNZYS Youth Training Programme.
Career
Robertson eventually joined Waka Racing, a world-class match racing team, where he spent six years, culminating with a world championship gold medal in 2016.
He then went on to skipper the highly successful CHINAone NINGBO team. From mid 2016, they featured in every final of the World Match Racing Tour, winning five of them and placing second in three. During this period the team picked up two M32 world championship wins in 2017 and 2018. He was also a regular feature on the Extreme Sailing Series, leading team Oman Air to third and second place finishes in 2017 and 2018 seasons, respectively.
Personal
Outside of sailing, Robertson loves running and practicing endurance sports, such as triathlon and Ironman.
