When Liu Xue first started sailing he hated it, it scared him and he couldn’t swim. It was his uncle, a member of China’s national sailing team, who turned it around, encouraging Xue and showing him pictures of racing yachts as inspiration.
He was recruited to sail with Dongfeng Race Team in the 2014-15 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race and returned to become part of the winning crew for the 2017-18 edition. He also sailed with China Team in the America’s Cup World Series.
In his spare time Xue runs a sailing school, introducing more junior sailors to the sport, and enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
“Sailing makes a better ‘Me’. Everyday, learn hard, work hard, fight hard; and then fly high.”
