SailGP
Tom Johnson is a SailGP veteran having served as wing trimmer for the United States in the inaugural campaign, before joining ROCKWOOL DEN ahead of Season 2.

Youth
Growing up in Perth, Johnson was exposed to sailing at a young age and began competing at the age of seven, gaining experience on the Olympic class 49er and foiling moth circuits.

Career
His commitment to the sport and continued development led to him getting called up to take part in the 2014-2015 The Ocean Race with Team Vestas Wind alongside teammate Nicolai Sehested. With the abrupt halt in the Indian Ocean during Leg 2, he subsequently joined up with TEAM ORACLE USA for the upcoming America’s Cup as wing trimmer.

He is well-versed in the mechanics of foiling high-speed technical boats having competed as wing trimmer for ORACLE TEAM USA in the 2017 America’s Cup.

Following the completion of the 35th America’s Cup, he returned to offshore racing for his second lap of the globe in the 2017-2018 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race – one of the sport’s most competitive and grueling events – with Vestas 11th Hour Racing.

Personal
When he isn’t sailing, Johnson likes to surf, skate and go camping.
