Iain Jensen, known as ‘Goobs’, brings a significant amount of knowledge and experience to Emirates Team GBR, having competed in two Olympic Games (including winning a gold and silver medal) and in three America’s Cup campaigns. Jensen acts as wing trimmer onboard the Brits' F50

Jensen began sailing at his local club in Wangi Wangi, Australia when he was five-years old. At 16, he represented Australia for the first time in competition, winning the Youth World Championships in the double handed 420 class with SailGP's own Nathan Outteridge.

The partnership he formed with Outteridge has led the pair to numerous achievements, winning three 49er world championship titles between from 2009-12, in addition to two silvers and a bronze in the event. However his finest moment came in London in 2012, when he won the Olympic gold medal in the 49er class and forever etched his name into the history books. The pair returned to defend their title in Rio four years later, adding a silver medal to their Olympic tally.

Following his success in the London Games, Jensen joined Artemis Racing as a spare sailor in 2013, eventually being selected to compete as wing trimmer in the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco. He stayed with the team through the next campaign in Bermuda, but has now shifted to INEOS TEAM UK as the British challenger for the 36th America’s Cup, alongside several of his Emirates Team GBR teammates.

Never far from the water, Jensen his spare time, he enjoys kite surfing and surfing.
