Since the age of 12, Nick Hutton dreamt of being a professional sailor and through hard work and determination, he has turned his childhood dream into a reality.
Going through the ranks of the Royal Yachting Association youth program, he started his racing career in the double-handed 420 class and went on to make his America’s Cup debut in 2012. Hutton was bowman with the Italian America’s Cup team and has competed in six Extreme Sailing Series, winning in 2010.
Hutton competed with the British team at the 35th America’s Cup and has recently resigned with the team, alongside teammate Neil Hunter. He will sail with the Great Britain SailGP Team when his schedule allows.
Off the water, Hutton is married to wife Philippa and enjoys spending time with his young family. With Ayrton Senna as one of his hero’s, Hutton has a love of cars, as well as riding dirt and mountain bikes, and skiing.
“I am hugely excited about the upcoming SailGP season and to be representing my country. It is great to be back on these amazing boats, seeing how they have evolved and to be changing perceptions of the sport.”
