Yugo Yoshida started sailing as a high school club activity, but soon developed a thirst for racing.
He showed talent as a 470 crew and quickly had aspirations to compete in the Olympic Games. His dream came true when he participated at the London 2012 Games, after going through tough domestic qualifying.
Yoshida made his foiling debut with the Japanese America’s Cup team, competing at the 35th America’s Cup in Bermuda.
Yoshida met his wife sailing, when they both competed for Japan at the Olympic Games. He now supports his wife’s Olympic ambitions, coaching her towards Tokyo 2020.
When he’s not sailing or coaching, he loves fishing and spending time with his young son.
“I always aspire to be a better sailor and for that it is important to have new experiences. By SailGP Season 4 our team must be all Japanese, so our mission will be to pass on our sailing skills to a younger generation.”
