Jo was inspired to take up sailing by the late Sir Peter Blake and Team New Zealand’s 1995 Americas Cup win. Rolex World Sailor of the Year in 2013, Jo is a three-time Olympian, winning gold in London and silver in Rio with Polly Powrie in the 470 class.

World Sailing Athletes Commission Chair and World Sailing Board Member, she has also recently coached the NZ Nacra 17 team at the 2020 Tokyo Games. Jo is currently campaigning for Paris 2024 in the 49erFX with Molly Meech. She spends every spare moment on the ocean, be it FX Sailing, wing foiling, Moth sailing or stand-up paddleboarding.
