SailGP
Bryan Mettraux is making his debut in the SailGP league this season. It is also his debut in the flight controller position.
Youth
Mettraux comes from a nautical family and was introduced to sailing at the incredibly young age of one. Growing up, he spent countless hours on Lake Geneva, honing his skills and developing his passion for sailing. His early experiences in various boat classes laid the foundation for his versatile sailing career.
Career
His impressive sailing resume includes being a two-time GC32 World Champion in 2018 and 2019 and has also won multiple D35 Trophy titles and Bol d'Or Mirabaud victories. He showed an early interest in technical drawings and architecture too, which led him to pursue an apprenticeship as a shipbuilder at Philippe Durr's shipyard. In 2021, Mettraux joined the Swiss America’s Cup Challenger, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, for his first participation in the America's Cup as part of the 37th edition, in the trimmer role.
Personal
Mettraux comes from a family of sailors and his sisters Justine, Laurane and Elodie are also accomplished sailors. In his free time, he enjoys various sports on and off the water and has a particular interest in astrophysics.
