Nathan Outteridge returns to SailGP in a new role for Season 3; as sailing advisor and co-driver of Sébastien Schneiter’s new young Swiss team. Outteridge was formerly the driver and CEO of Japan SailGP Team. He is one of the most experienced sailors to race in the league and was part of the original test team helping to develop the revolutionary F50 class.
Sailing is in Outteridge’s blood. From the age of four, he got the bug for the sport from his parents and has even sailed alongside his sister, Haylee, winning the silver medal at the 2019 world championships in the Nacra 17.
In a career spanning nearly two decades, Outteridge has become one of the most successful competitors in the sport, racking up 19 world championship medals across a variety of classes – including the Moth, 29er, 49er, Farr 40 and Nacra 17.
Teaming up with Great Britain SailGP Team athlete Iain Jensen, Outteridge won a gold medal at the London Olympics in the 49er class, subsequently winning the silver four years later in Rio.
In 2012, he joined Artemis Racing ahead of the 34th America’s Cup and remained with the team through the 35th America’s Cup, losing to Emirates Team New Zealand.
Outteridge is never far from the water, whether it be sailing, kite surfing or windsurfing.
