SailGP Perez joins the United States SailGP Team as a highly-skilled foiling competitor from Hawaii’s burgeoning foiling scene. Perez debuted with the team in 2021 as the youngest athlete – and first latina – to compete at SailGP.
Career A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Perez did not grow up in a sailing family but became interested in the sport after watching community sailing programs on the island. Through local instruction, she immediately began ascending the ranks of the Open Bic class most notably becoming the first female athlete to win the 2018 North American Championship and ultimately, win the World Championship the following year.
Perez joins the team with an impressive amount of foiling ability, having won the 2021 WASZP USA Championship and actively campaigning globally in the Moth class as well as helming a 69F racing team.
Personal In addition to her time sailing, Perez enjoys foil surfing in her free time.
