SailGP:
Andrew Campbell joins the United States SailGP Team in Season 2 with an unmatched depth of experience developed across two America’s Cup campaigns, including 2017 when he was a teammate of helm Jimmy Spithill at ORACLE TEAM USA.
Youth:
Growing up in San Diego, California, professional sailing was in Campbell’s blood, literally. His father Bill Campbell is a three-time America’s Cup athlete who won the Auld Mug with Bill Koch in 1992 when Campbell was 8 years old.
A competitive collegiate athlete, Campbell led the Georgetown University Sailing Team to win the 2006 team race national championships along with three singlehanded championships in 2003, 2005, and 2006. He was an ICSA All-American for four consecutive years and College Sailor of the Year in 2006.
Sports Illustrated placed him on the list of Georgetown’s Top-10 all-time athletes.
Career:
Campbell’s career in professional sailing has seen him compete across multiple international classes and events including as tactician with ORACLE TEAM USA in the 2017 America’s Cup and as flight controller for American Magic challenging for the 2021 America’s Cup.
An active Moth sailor, Campbell has also competed across various professional classes including the M32, Pac52, Farr 40, Melges 24, and GC32.
Personal:
Campbell is married and has twins. He met his wife, Jacqueline, on the Georgetown Sailing Team.
