Regarded as one of the best professional sailors of his generation, Victor Diaz de Leon started sailing at a young age growing up in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. He moved to the United States after high school and pursued sailing as his career and passion, specializing in small keelboat tactics and single-handed Moth sailing.
Currently living in Miami, FL, Diaz de Leon has twice finished top-10 in the Moth world championships and has been a fixture at the top of the leaderboard in the J70 and Etchells classes.
When he is not sailing, he enjoys free diving, fishing, surfing and anything else that involves the water.
“I am so thrilled to join the United States team. Having the opportunity to represent our country at the highest level of our sport is such an honor and I can’t wait for my first event with the team in Sydney.”
